It is not possible to attain self-realization without self-control, but it can be achieved by the proper technique and a subdued mind.
वश्यात्मना तु यतता शक्योऽवाप्तुमुपायतः

Krishna replied: The mind is indeed fickle and difficult to restrain, but it can be brought under control through practice and renunciation. It is not possible to attain self-realization without self-control, but it can be achieved by the proper technique and a subdued mind.
