BG 14.12

Greed, restlessness, agitation, and craving, are all due to the dominance of passion.

लोभः प्रवृत्तिरारम्भः कर्मणामशमः स्पृहा
रजस्येतानि जायन्ते विवृद्धे भरतर्षभ

  • lobhaḥ — greed

  • pravṛittir — activity

  • ārambhaḥ — exertion

  • karmaṇām — for the fruit of actions

  • aśhamaḥ — restlessness

  • spṛihā — craving

  • rajasy — of the quality of passion

  • etāni — these

  • jāyante — develop

  • vivṛiddhe — when predominates

  • bharatarṣhabha — Arjuna
    Epithet for Arjuna - bharata-ṛiṣhabha — the best of the Bharatas
