Krishna asked: How has this delusion overcome you in this hour of peril? This is a crude mentality, practiced by those who do not reach the higher abodes.

श्री भगवानुवाच
कुतस्त्वा कश्मलमिदं विषमे समुपस्थितम्
अनार्यजुष्टमस्वर्ग्यमकीर्तिकरमर्जुन

  • kaśhmalamidaṁ — this delusion

  • viṣhame — difficult or dangerous position, misfortune

  • samupasthitam — overcome

  • anārya-juṣhṭamaswargyam — ungodly practice of wretched people

    • anārya — not respectable, impolite, vulgar

    • juṣhṭam — practiced

    • aswargyam — not leading to heaven

  • akīrti-karam — disgraceful action

    • akīrti — infamy, disgrace
